With a rich heritage and a varietally diverse range of premium wine brands, Pernod Ricard Winemakers has grown by exceeding the expectations of consumers and retail partners around the globe.
Growing our business sustainably means focusing on our consumers, partners, society and each other in equal measure. Every day, we share the responsibility that's central to this enduring commitment. We strive to be great ‘Créateurs de Convivialité’ in everything we do.
As growers and makers, we understand the vital importance of sustainability. That’s why we take our place in the world very seriously.
While supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we’ve defined ambitious targets to push the business further, using inclusive partnerships that bring shared value to all. We believe that there can be no conviviality with excess and strive to be sustainable and responsible at every step of our production. We’re passionate about achieving meaningful and measurable steps forward — not only to reduce our environmental footprint but also to engage positively with our local communities
The creation of our business
Pernod Ricard Winemakers is the winemaking business that sits within the Pernod Ricard Group — a company established by Patrick Ricard and Jean Hémard in 1975. Today, Pernod Ricard possesses an unmatched portfolio of wines and spirits brands that excites consumers across the world.
Entering the wine business
Pernod Ricard entered the wine sector when our two Barossa brands — Jacob’s Creek and St Hugo — were acquired in 1989. Now, Pernod Ricard Winemakers is one of the most renowned wine producers in the world.
Our expansion has continued across the last three decades with a series of key acquisitions that have complemented our growth. Significant milestones on our journey included the purchase of Campo Viejo and Brancott Estate in 2005, and of Kenwood Vineyards and Mumm Napa in 2014.
Our founding philosophy
The philosophy of the company was established by Patrick Ricard and Jean Hémard back in 1975, and this remains central to who we are today. Patrick’s motto — to make a new friend every day — still inspires us as much now as it did then.
