Committed to Drive Change

Our commitment to delivering Sustainability & Responsibility is built on four key foundations — Nurturing Terroir, Valuing People, Circular Making and Responsible Hosting. Here’s how we’re working every day to achieve these priorities.

We recognise that inappropriate consumption can cause serious problems to individuals and our communities. That's why we're committed to work with industry colleagues, governments and local authorities to prevent and reduce harmful use.

Responsible Party

Responsible Party: Fighting binge drinking among young adults

In our 2019 S&R strategy, Pernod Ricard committed to expand its Responsible Party program globally to reach at least 1 million young adults by 2030.

To achieve this ambition, Responsible Party will reach new markets and new setting such as festivals and activations. Alongside this diversification, a new social media campaign has been developed.

In a world of finite resources, we’re committed to finding better methods to minimise waste. Our focus on circular making means we’re finding more ways to reuse, reduce and recycle to reduce our environmental impact.

Campo Viejo

Bodegas Campo Viejo, 1st Spanish winery to be certified CarbonNeutral®

Bodegas Campo Viejo became the first Spanish winery to achieve CarbonNeutral® certification in 2012, making it the Spanish wine industry benchmark in terms of respect for the Environment and Sustainability.

To become a CarbonNeutral® company, Campo Viejo implemented measures to minimise its carbon footprint, moreover, offsetting it by following the Kyoto Protocol guidelines and participating in projects backed by the United Nations. The measures taken to reduce the winery's carbon footprint include reducing the weight of its bottles from 550 to 380 grams while maintaining their functionality and appearance, the use of electricity from renewable sources, and optimising packaging, among others.

People are at the heart of everything we do at Pernod Ricard Winemakers; it's the foundation of our philosophy as Creators of Conviviality. Our people are key to our creativity and expertise, they drive our engagement levels, and they’re responsible for our consumer and trade relationships. They’re also vital to bringing conviviality to life.

South Australia Youth Network

Our Global PR Winemakers Youth Networks

Following the relaunch of the Youth Network initiative across Pernod Ricard Winemakers in October of 2017, PRW announced 50 global young professionals that make up the Pernod Ricard Winemakers Youth Network Committee. Spanning across 4 countries, and 10 offices, this group of passionate young professionals have been successful in their applications to take part in the newly designed initiative offering closer connection to PR Winemaker's Senior Leadership team.

Our grapes come from nature and take their unique varietal character from the land where they were grown. It’s this truth that’s at the heart of our commitment to nurturing our terroir and its biodiversity. We're also focused on addressing the challenges of climate change to safeguard the quality of our vines and wines for generations to come.

Forever Protecting Our Kaituna Wetlands

As part of our commitment to protect the land in our local communities, our Kaituna Wetlands has become the first Marlborough vineyard to be protected by the QEII National Trust. Over the last 150-years, New Zealand has lost 90 percent of its wetlands due to farming, pollution and invasive plants and this partnership will aid the protection of biodiversity and heritage on private land that is critical to reversing the decline of indigenous biodiversity and preserving our history. The Kaituna Wetlands contains one of the largest areas of Raupo wetland on the Wairau plains and our New Zealand team has spent the past decade restoring the 5-hectare wetland, with weed and pest eradication, along with thousands of trees planted.
