“This wine is liquid goodness bottled up.”
– Daniel Ricciardo
Two Australian superstars have joined forces once again, with Formula One® driver Daniel Ricciardo teaming up with celebrated winery St Hugo to craft Ric Red. Inspired by genuine, honest, in-the-moment good times, with good food, good music and good friends, Ric Red is Daniel Ricciardo’s ‘Secret Sauce’, an approachable red blend, which is bursting with character and ready to be enjoyed whenever and wherever the moment calls for it.
What’s the ‘Secret Sauce’? Ricciardo wanted to create a delicious drop, with a rollercoaster of fruitful aromas, and being from a country infatuated by varietals, Ricciardo and St Hugo Chief Winemaker Peter Munro, have bucked convention to deliberately create a unique blend that can be sipped for any occasion.
Bursting with vibrant character, the red blend is perfect for opening now, next week or putting away for up to half a decade.
Ricciardo loves bringing people together, and the crafting and enjoyment of Ric Red is no exception. Staying true to this ethos, Ricciardo insisted on good friend and helmet designer, Ornamental Conifer, design the wine label. Having designed Ricciardo’s racing helmets over the years, Ornamental Conifer took his designs off-track to curate a piece that represents the evolving partnership between two Australian icons.
“Ric Red is what I pull out when I’m with my best mates and we’re sharing stories and laughs.” Ricciardo said.
“I believe that everyone should have a beautiful go-to red, so I was determined to create a social and shareable wine with St Hugo that is easily accessible for whenever the moment calls for it. I am super proud of what we’ve created together so far and am even more excited about what’s to come next.”
“Ric Red is about taking the essence of DR3 and amping up the generosity and juiciness. Life is about connections, and Daniel is nothing if not a ‘people person’, so we wanted this wine to be opened and enjoyed for the everyday occasions that we love to have with friends, and where life happens,” Munro added.
“For quality occasions, you need a quality wine that doesn’t get in the way of what’s important but complements the vibe.”
To date, the partnership has resulted in two limited-edition vintage releases of fine wine range, DR3 x St Hugo, to be cellared and savoured for special occasions and a hand-blown glass racing boot decanter that sold out in seven days. An extension of DR3 x St Hugo, Ric Red will testify to the unmatched success of St Hugo’s long-standing partnership with Ricciardo.

About DR3 x St Hugo
About Daniel Ricciardo x St Hugo
Daniel Ricciardo’s passion for wine has led to a long-term collaboration with leading Australian fine wine house St Hugo. In partnership with St Hugo Chief Winemaker Peter Munro, Daniel’s winemaking journey has resulted in two vintage releases of the limited edition DR3 x St Hugo wine range, which first launched in 2021. Daniel Ricciardo has been involved every step of the way; from blending to the label design, tasting notes, and providing his racing boot to be modelled into a limited-edition decanter. For the previous two releases, Peter and Daniel set out to create limited edition wines that were serious and designed to be saved and savoured for special occasions. But Daniel also wanted to create a more approachable, shareable, and social wine that could be enjoyed whenever the moment calls for it; and with that, Ric Red was created.
